WELCOME! ...to the home of Mijee-mites, highly absorbant, slim AI2 snapped modern cloth nappies. Named after 2 gorgeous boys, Mijee-mite nappies specialise in minkee and embroidered outers. They have a unique adjustable inner design, optimising absorbancy and minimising unnecessary bulk. Please feel free to contact us through bundlesofbuns @ hotmail.com for any queries on design, purchase or service. Enjoy!

PLEASE NOTE: Orders closed from February 2010 until further notice as Bub No.3 comes close to entering the world! Keep an eye on latest blog posts to keep updated with news of pre-made nappies and custom orders available
MODERN CLOTH NAPPIES...
Gone are days of soaking nappies in the bucket, looking for pins and needing clothes 3 times bigger on the bottom of your baby! Modern cloth nappies are easy to use, easy to care for, easy on the environment, and easy on your pocket (over the nappy life of your child!).

Factors to consider:
1. No long term or in depth study has taken place into the effects of the chemicals in disposable nappies. They are on your child nearly 24hrs a day for average 2.5 - 3yrs.

2. No standard disposable nappy ever manufactured has yet broken down and is a major contributor to landfill.
3. Using disposable nappies on one child can cost well above $850 (minimum) per year = $2125 per child if toilet trained at 2.5yrs old. Multiply this by the amount of children you have/will have.
4. Have you noticed how gorgeous modern cloth nappies look? (Ok, very vain factor!)

WHY ARE THEY SO EASY
Absorbant fabrics used, mainly hemp, bamboo and microfibre(synthetic) are much more absorbant than cotton, therefore the nappy can be more absorbant yet still trim. Mijee-mite nappies only uses bamboo fabrics, as we believe this is the best option for absorbancy and it also has antibacterial properties without the smell that hemp can sometimes have.

PUL is a laminated polyester fabric that is waterproof, yet still breathable, much more desirable than the old style PVC pilchers.

Suedecloth is a synthetic fabric which allows moisture to be drawn through it, yet does not hold it, therefore keeps the babies skin dry and away from the absorbing fabrics. Mijee-mites mainly uses suedecloth due to the fact that is washes so well and is extremely stain resistant when exposed to sunlight.

Minkee is a delightfully soft outer fabric and is purely aesthetic. Once you own some minkee nappies, you may never turn back!

Snaps are used to fasten the nappies and mean that you don't have to go searching for pins etc, and they give great adjustability for fit.

ALL-IN-TWO NAPPY SYSTEM
There are various options when it comes to "nappying" your child. Mainly, fitted nappies with external covers, pocket nappies (absorbant fabric is put into a pocket opening with stay dry lining fabric on the inside and waterproof outer), All-in-one (AIO) nappies and All-in-two (Ai2) nappies.

Without going into detail about all the different options, a good option for most people is have some standard fitted nappies with covers as these will last and last through different children and are generally economical. Then you add a selection of either pockets, AIOs or Ai2s for your "show off" nappies or going out nappies.

Ai2s are great because they are trim, are as easy to put on as a disposable, and usually have cute outer fabrics or prints! They are usually more expensive per nappy because they include the liner and cover into the nappy, but you can make the most out of your nappy by unsnapping the absorbant inserts when they are wet and reusing the outer shell of the nappy with another set of inserts (or boosters). PUL does not have an extremely long life, around 150 - 200 washes (may be more) so Ai2 nappies will not withstand the amount of washing that fitteds can (but you still need external covers for fitteds that can be rotated through the day)

For more information about any aspect of using Modern Cloth Nappies, you can visit http://www.ozclothnappies.org/ or other informative cloth nappy forums.
SIZES... - NOW NEW LARGER SIZES
I mainly only make small, medium and large, however, if you would like a custom newborn or extra large, please contact us and we will try to suit your requirements.

The below measurements are ESTIMATES only, as every baby has a different shape. The other important consideration is the size of their legs!
Centimetre measurements are around waist (where the top of the nappy would sit, below belly button).

Remember that weight is not the best indicator as toddlers tend to lengthen out and get a bit slimmer, while their weight increases.

Please also note that this design is a LOW RISE (though not as low as the originals!). This may not suit every baby. For more precise measurements, please contact me.

IF YOU HAVE A SLIMMER BUB and prefer a slimmer fitting, lower rise nappy, please let me know. The new sizes are designed to have more room for growth, but still have a relatively low rise, and are more flexible for bubs with chubby thighs, with thinner wings. The original design has wider wings, which may help prevent wing droop on slimmer bubs. The photos of the little girl wearing the Ivory Butterfly nappy is the original version, so any new nappies will have thinner wings unless specifically asked for the original style.

Small - 4.2kgs to 6.5kgs approx OR 27cm to 39cm
Medium - 6kgs to 9kgs approx OR 39cm - 49cm - Rise approx 38 - 39cm stretched out
Large - 8kgs to 15kgs approx OR 42cm to to 55 cm - Rise approx 41 - 42cm stretched out

ORDER AND PURCHASE...

I do not often have a lot of nappies completed in stock. Any that I do have will be listed here.

All others will mainly be available as CUSTOM ORDERS. I am happy to make up whatever you can imagine, as far as I am able!

For CUSTOM ORDERS, these will be offered in different ways at different times - the best way to find out how orders are being taken is to keep up with the posts on the blog. Sometimes they will be offered as a "lottery" or through some limited spots. If you are unsure, please email to ask.Once you are happy with a design choice, I will send through a quote for payment.

EMBROIDERY DESIGNS
I do have a large database of embroidery designs - too large to email or upload as links. If you contact me with an idea of what you are looking for, I can email through some designs that may be along the lines of what you are after. Even if I don't have an exact design you would like, I am happy to source a design for you and provide purchase costs with design files,
PRICES FOR EMBROIDERY are dependant on the stitch count of the design. Prices range from $4 to $10 for most designs on top of the base price for the nappy (ie, $30 - $32 depending on type of minkee). Please email me for a price list.

PACK DISCOUNTS
Please ask about packs of plain, mottled or dot minkees, or embroidery designs you may be interested in. Keep an eye out for the pre-made nappies, otherwise feel free to email me with any requests, using any of the fabrics listed.

CUSTOMISABLE OPTIONS TO CONSTRUCTION
If customisable options are offered on a pre-made nappy, you can choose some alterations as follows (small surcharges apply):

Super Booster - For heavy/super wetters, add an extra layer of heavy weight bamboo fleece to the trifold. Even the heaviest wetters will have difficulty wetting through these boosters in a hurry!

Velour topped Top Booster - For bubs who are sensitive to synthetics or suedecloth, the top booster can be covered with soft natural bamboo velour instead. Bamboo velour is not stay dry, but will not cause irritation to synthetic sensitive skin as suedecloth may.

PAYMENT AND POSTAGE
To purchase any of the items listed, please email
bundlesofbuns@hotmail.com with the details of the item you would like, and your address details. If you are in the Newcastle area, we may be able to arrange free delivery.

I will send confirmation of payment details, cash (if local delivery) or direct debit.

As a standard rule, I will post the items IN STOCK within 3 days of receiving payment.

Postage is a standard rate of $5.50 up to 2 nappy and singlet sets of any size, or 3 small nappies. Registered Post is an option for an additional $2.75. I cannot replace items that are lost in transit. Express Post is also optional for an additional $2.20. If you would like to order more than the above quantities, please ask for a specific quote.

For CUSTOM ORDERS, I begin the order once payment has cleared. I aim for 2 weeks as standard for the order to be completed and post at the end of 2 weeks. Sometimes I can complete orders quicker than that, or will let you know if there is going to be a slight delay on your order prior to ordering.

I am open to layby, please ask for conditions.

If you are interested in packs of 6, please also enquire about discounts and savings depending on the options you choose.

What do you get....

...When you cross a 37 week pregnant woman hurrying to work on last minute embroideries (due to recently having an enjoyable bout of a 24 hour vomitting/gastro bug) and a whole lot of stuff still to prepare before her bub comes?

AN ACCIDENT WITH AN EMBROIDERY MACHINE! Yes, I guess sewing accidents are likely at some point in time... mine came with the embroidery needle sewing through my fingernail into my index finger to the bone numerous times before I realised I couldn't pull my finger off the needle and I had to press the stop button with my other hand before the barrage of needle punching would stop!!! With a quick slide off the needle using my other hand, my finger was finally free, with a disappointingly minimal APPEARANCE of injury, but very PAINFUL finger. I decided I would use this experience to remember in impending labour!!

Anyway, here are the last couple of pics, one lucky last still to come, hopefully before bub comes!

2 Custom Order Spots Available - Lottery draw!

Ok, here is the story! I am finding it increasingly uncomfortable to sew and snap! So, in the midst of trying to get my own bub stash completed, I am going to offer 2 LAST SPOTS before bub is born! I will then be having a break, as I am not sure exactly when bub will turn up, and after bub is born, I will assess how much time I have to get work done as to how much I can take on, and how soon after the birth!

So, the last 2 spots will have the following conditions:

1. It will work as a lottery draw again... please EMAIL me with your name and "Lottery" in the SUBJECT LINE.
2. I will open it from now until 8pm EST Friday night 15 January.
3. Postage will be $5.50 for each order, therefore numbers of nappies are limited to 3 Small OR 3 Medium nappies OR only 2 Large size nappies.
4. I will draw 2 names and post them on the blog on Saturday morning. You have until midday Saturday to make contact with me via email or you will FORFEIT your spot.
5. From Payment Received to Postage, please allow standard 2 week processing time for your order.

I would appreciate if customers could be quick with communication and payment as I am starting to get pressed for time to have everything ready before bub comes, especially if it makes an early appearance like it's older sibling!!!!!!!

Thank you everyone!!!

Happy New Year!

Thank you very much to all of my customers from 2009, many of whom were very patient while I had some time off during our move and morning sickness!! I appreciate your business very much!!!

I am still having a little holiday at present, but will be returning early next week. I am sort of on the count down to welcoming the new bub (well, still 7 weeks to go) but have a lot of things to get done before bub comes! I will post next week about where I am up to with possible orders so keep an eye out!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year break!

Some pics and questions...

Pics of a couple of the premade nappies that went out with a custom order added... I haven't actually taken photos of all of them unfortunately, so here is a few...

So, the question is, are people still wanting some Christmas nappies, or just a few other nappies/nappy sets? I'm not sure whether to do any more Christmas nappies...

But I will hopefully have a non-Christmassy girly nappy/top set listed on the blog within the next day, then I am off for our anniversary night away, yay!! Why did we get married at such a busy time of year??? Well, I love summer, love the lead up to Christmas, we had a relatively short engagement and that was the only date left at the church I wanted to get married at before the next year! So, each year, in the midst of chaos, we try to get away for a day and a night (which we never otherwise do without the kiddies) and take some time out, which is actually really good.

So please comment if you like about whether or not some more Christmas nappies would be required. Thanks!!

More obstacles!

A couple more days away for new listings - now the overlocker has decided to stage a strike despite me spending around 6 hours just today trying and retrying to fix it! I think I could almost be a qualified machine servicer by now!!! Have had some improvement, so all being well with some more work, (without needing to send it to the repairman, which will take days) hopefully will get another listing on about Wednesday/evening.

A bit slow!

Sorry, just a quick note to say I had planned on getting a few more pre-mades out at the end of this week, however after a recent series of unusual symptoms and sickness (are all 3rd pregnancies so sickness/exhaustion prone?!) which has required a few bail-outs by family and friends just getting through the evenings with the kiddies, I have only been able to work on finishing the previous pre-made/custom purchases in small windows of okayness!. So, some more will be coming again soon, and a few different designs also. So keep watching this space!

Christmas nappies and orders

Why is it when one thing breaks down/stops working properly, everything starts following suit? In the last couple of days, it has been my embroidery machine driving me crazy, then my good camera decided to momentarily pack it in right when I needed it (hence the dodgy and lack of pics!) and now my computer has gone on long service leave!!! So I have wasted hours trying to work with the first and last offenders, with little success so far. Computerised technology can save so much time, but I'm sure when you add up how much time you can waste when it goes wrong, you are probably really better off without it!

Anyway, a quick pic of the latest order finished(I have missed a few other pics, and they are on my other computer, sorry!)
Ok, now onto CHRISTMAS NAPPIES

Keep an eye on this space. I have decided to randomly list a couple of Christmas nappies in the next few days, and I will see how this little system will work:

For example, I will list a nappy for sale with a pic, price, an ITEM CODE and "AVAILABLE FOR SALE". If you would like to purchase the nappy, you must email me immediately, as the first to email about purchasing that ITEM CODE will become the new owner. The purchaser of the nappy will also have the opportunity to add ONE custom nappy of choice to your purchase to make the most of the $5.50 postage. You do not HAVE to order an extra nappy, you might just like the one nappy, but the opportunity is there.

Once I have posted "SOLD" on the nappy, please do not enquire about that nappy again - I will post a new post with any new nappies available. Does that actually make sense, or is it just me working out things wonderfully in my pregnancy-dazed brain??!!! Feel free to email or comment about whether you understand or not, otherwise, I will start listing in the next couple of days. I will also re-post the conditions with the for sale nappies.

Over the seas and our new family member (no, not bub yet!!)

Here is a special order, the first Bundles of Buns to venture across the seas (further than NZ!)

And slightly off the topic, here is one of our 2 new pets, Mr and Mrs (well, we think!) Nemo! Both the boys were very excited to welcome them to our home, with DS2 babbling gibberish over and over to them. They are a little shy though, so hard to catch coming out of the rock.

I am also off on a little trip at the end of the week, a women's conference. It will be the first time I have left my boys for 2 nights, so I hope they all survive ok! But I definitely will have limited access to email etc so please be aware of that. Please keep the suggestions coming with Christmas designs!

More orders and fabric

I am getting slack with posting my pics! Below are the latest two orders. The ladybug set was with metallic red thread, so pretty and sparkly (my pics aren't very good - AGAIN!). And the other Christmas nappy had small writing so hard to see in the pic, but it was to Santa offering to "take my brother. leave the gifts". I'm sure I felt that way times 3 brothers when I was growing up!

I am starting to get more bursts of energy here and there... the house is SOMEWHAT clean, SOME of the time! It's hard when we are still doing renos all the time - the latest addition has been a giant marine fish tank built into one of our walls... DHs new hobby... lets hope we don't kill as many expensive marine fish as we have goldfish... We were up to about Mr Goldie the 6th, as well as some others in the last few months! But more sewing related, I bought some nice new shelves to put all my fabrics in, as the crates were driving me crazy, digging through to find different minkees etc. So I should take a pic of my more organised sewing room - there is still a lot I want to do though, and we need to put a new floor down and paint the walls - beige is not very creativity-inducing!

I also have some more new fabrics, including apple green dot, Sunshine yellow dot, tequila sunrise gelato, and another little specialty, to be revealed when I take some pics!!! Oh and plenty of Red dot minkee for some Chrissy nappies....I'm not sure how to offer some - by pre-order, or pre-made stock - anyone got any preferences? Feel free to let me know! And if you find any cute Christmas embroideries... I like doing customs because I don't have to choose embroideries - it is so hard!

Anyway, enough rambling, here are some pics

A couple more

The first 2 orders from the second batch have gone out - the pics aren't great as I was pushing it to the last minute with both to get them to the post office on time!!

I also have a few new fabrics just arrived, and about to arrive, including Mixed Berry, Aurora, Tequila Sunrise and some yet to see... I still have about 3-4weeks worth of current orders, then will be updating the blog as to whether I will take a few more orders, or will work on some pre-made stock. I am at least starting to feel like a normal person again... and I am already HALF WAY THROUGH my pregnancy... how does that happen? Third time has gone so fast!!

Lucky last from the first batch!

I'm back!! With news!!

After a massive haul with the move (why we spread it out thinking that would be easier, I have no idea!!) and waiting to get the office set up and back online, I have finally survived!

Firstly, a huge thank you to the last of my customer orders, who have been SOOOOOOOO patient with me!!! I'm sorry it dragged out at the end!
So, my big news, other than that we are now in the new house (although yet to unpack most of our belongings, including the sewing machines, fabric etc!!) is the we are expecting a NEW BABY!!! We are very excited to be having number 3 and I am due late February. HENCE, I had tried to organise the finishing of orders and the move to accommodate MORNING SICKNESS (which is actually more midday to night sickness for me!), but it all happened a tiny bit earlier than planned, therefore wasn't quite finished my orders etc. I am still not 100%, although feeling better than I was, but still no energy, hence the house not being unpacked!!

This also means I need a little more time to get back into the swing of things and get sewing again!!! I have yet to decide whether to take some custom orders in the meantime before setting up the new site, or how it will work. I am guessing I need a couple more weeks to decide. But I will post news on this site as soon as I have any!

So, thank you to everyone for your patience, and to all the emails I have received about taking orders again, I'm sorry it has taken so long to update the blog!!!

Have been a little slack! I took a little time off for my birthday, yes another year older! And have been busy due to end of financial year - for my own business and my father's - which incidentally coincides with my birthday! Anyway, had a quiet day with my boys, unfortunately the weather was horrible and we couldn't think of anything much exciting to do!!

Am finally down to my last couple of orders! Will finish them off and get to the joyful task of packing up house - woo hoo!!! Ok, I'm not exactly looking forward to that! Although, thanks to our last move, I have culled a lot of stuff.... but then again, I have gained a lot too...... oh well!

A couple of orders that included new designs recently (been slack with the pics!). The top one is for boy/girl twins, how adorable!

Check out a nappy available for a charity auction!

There is a size MEDIUM very girly nappy available right now on a charity auction - check it out!! http://www.ozebaby.com.au/auctions.php?VA=1209

Sorry about missing out on the boys, next time I promise!!
And here is the pic - you can own it!

The auction is to raise money to help a very special baby girl with a very rare, life threatening genetic condition travel to San Francisco to attend a medical symposium. For full details, please check out her website at http://www.princessnicola.com/

Another update just to remind everyone that I will be having some time off (hopefully including my birthday!!) once I have finished all of the current orders over the next couple of weeks. We are then packing up the house to move early August. Once we are settled in and I have new AWESOME amount of workspace, I will be updating everyone on the blog as to where I stand with taking custom orders, or how much stock I have for the new website (new logo finished yay!! Just all the other stuff to organise now!!!)

Email mishaps!

I have recently become aware of a few missing emails!! PLEASE, if you don't receive a response from me by 24 hours, please feel free to email again! Also, sometimes best to check Junk Email for randomly diverted emails! This also applies to open batches - if you have been promised a spot in a certain date batch and haven't heard from me, please email me!
Here are a couple of new design orders in the last few days:

New Snaps standards on all Larges

No piccies today! All the most recent orders have been using designs we have already seen!

I have now decided, to help prevent the possibility of wing droop on the nappies (now that the wings aren't as wide which helped prevent it in old style), that I will now automatically put 4 snaps on each of the wing snaps instead of just 2. If you are ordering a medium and would like them added to the mediums as well, please ASK SPECIFICALLY for this during your order.

I have a BIG batch of orders in the next group, I will definitely be wading my way through those orders! But will hopefully have some good piccies to share in a few weeks time!

Some news on the personal front....

Ok, so we have just decided, in our ever so spontaneous fashion that we are going to move house!!! The aim is at this point around early August, but we have a lot to finish on the house before we move out..... so on the downside, it will probably take a bit longer than I planned to get some stock together for the new site.....

on the UPSIDE, my new workspace will be HUGE compared to what it is now (seriously, my study/office/sewing room is like a sweatshop - apalling conditions!! lol).... think a 3x3.5m room presently with a filing cabinet, tall cupboard, 2 desks, 3 machines, sewing cabinet, computer, fabric etc etc.... so, hopefully it may even make my time more efficient so I can get more done! (am I dreaming?!)

Here are some recent orders that included some more new designs:

What's in a name?

I have had a few name nappies amongst the orders lately! I love them!

Custom orders have CLOSED! I still have orders already booked until July, so I will re-evaluate during that time, and also how I go with the testing and getting stock ready will determine when I will open orders again, and for how long.

Thanks for your patience!

Absorbency vs Drying Time and Custom Orders

I would love some feedback on the absorbency of Mijee-mite nappies.... I know most people find them very absorbent, yet still quite quick drying.

What I would like to know is, would you like them more absorbent, which will increase drying time?

Is drying time important to a lot of people?

Or is absorbency more important?

PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH YOUR OPINIONS!!

CUSTOM ORDERS!!
Also, unfortunately I will have to stop taking custom orders for a period of time to make some stock and spend time on the launch of the website. Hence I will stop taking any NEW enquiries of custom orders from this WEDNESDAY 13 May. I may close the orders earlier than that, as there are only a few spots left!!!!

If you have already been booked in, or promised a place in a certain batch, these orders will STILL BE FILLED don't worry!!

I'm sorry, I just cannot keep up with the amount of enquiries and orders, and would still like to maintain a healthy relationship with my family :) I would also like to focus on the store stocking and get that happening for all those people who prefer to have fluffy posted the day after purchasing!!! Thank you all for your understanding.

Some more newies

Some more orders using some new designs. I didn't quite get as many orders done as I would have liked, but I am getting through them!

Monday is the start of the next batch - if I promised you were in this batch and you don't receive an email by Monday night, please email me again :) I don't mind being pestered and I wouldn't like to miss anyone!!
I am also giving a MCN talk at a local meeting this Monday, so I am hoping I go ok with that!!! I am trying to think of ways to make the talk interesting! But it is an unusual format, so I'm not sure how much I can do!

I am also sorry to announce that I cannot continue to offer the same bulk pack discount as I was. The prices of individual nappies will stay the same, but bulk discounts will not be quite what they were.... I think we all know the rising cost of all materials ... but I am trying to absorb it as much as possible :)

I'm back!

Well, I got back for the weekend actually, but I'm back in the swing today. You know the unpacking, tonnes of washing and cleaning that you need to do when you get back... And I did a major overhaul of my sewing room, which was being quickly overtaken by stray bits of cotton, fabric, cut out boosters, minkee, PUL and suede, fabric for my "secret" nappies!!, scrapbooking stuff, photography stuff, computer, filing etc etc!! And it isn't a big room, I can assure you!

Working to finish the latest batch of orders, hopefully early as it is my DS2's first birthday tomorrow and we are having a party on Saturday, so I know I will spend late into the nights stuffing goody bags, organising games, photo slide show etc!! And it would be nice to have Mother's Day off :)

Here is a special birthday nappy recently with glittery green stars:
